It was supposed to be simple. All Navy SEAL Nathan Malone had to do was rescue three young girls from a Colombia drug cartel, then allow himself to be captured just long enough to draw out a government spy. That was before his mission went disastrously wrong…and before his wife, Bella, was told that Nathan was never coming home.
Bella's mourned her husband's death for three long years. But she has no idea he's still alive. Forced to assume a new identity, the man Nathan was is now dead. If he can get back to his wife, can he keep the secret of who he really is…even as desire threatens to consume them? And as danger threatens to tear Bella from Nathan's arms once more?
When a young woman disappears, journalist Sophie Alton investigates and is led to the woman's brother, a convicted killer who is running from the law. Together, they follow a dangerous path toward the truth-and unforgettable passion.
She's about to walk on the wild side . . .
While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent-and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.
Brock disagrees. He's committed to his anti-drug mission, but he's fallen in love with the beautiful woman who's as sweet as her cupcakes-and he'll do anything to win her back. Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who's determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he's lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?
Mike Brown was a Naval Academy graduate and hot shot Helo pilot in Afghanistan, until eight years ago when a mission went very wrong. Since then he has been hiding out in Peru, running a semi-legitimate air cargo business . He has cut himself off from his former life, and is sober 364 days of the year...except on the anniversary of the disaster that ended his career. We meet Mike in a bar on that anniversary, and he is definitely NOT sober.
Mike is being seduced by this drop-dead gorgeous Latino woman who is pulling his every string! That is till she gets him someplace " private" sticks a needle in his neck, and he wakes up shackled to a bed! Meet Eve Salinas. She is an attorney with CIA connections investigating the mission gone bad. She is also the widow of one of the men who died.
It is a ride in a tornado from there. First they have to learn to trust each other, not an easy thing. People want them dead, someone from the Government included. There is so much action, and suspense I found my self holding my breath at one point. The attraction between Mike and Eve is so very hot, and so hard to deny, though they both try to. Mike and Eve have to fight their own demons to get to a place they can be together.
We meet a few of the BOI men, and they look like they will be regulars in this series. Very happy about that! I would highly recommend this novel to all Cindy Gerard fans, and anyone who likes military romantic suspense. This one is a keeper.
