CBS Adapts James Patterson’s Zoo..

For 36 years, James Patterson has written unputdownable, pulse-racing novels. Now, he has written a book that surpasses all of them. ZOO is the thriller he was born to write.

James Patterson has seen 10 of his books make the jump from the literary world to Hollywood. So the famed author's high praise for the upcoming TV adaptation of his bestseller Zoo on CBS is not to be taken lightly.

"People always say the book is always better than the movie," Patterson told reporters Monday at CBS's summer press day. "In this case, I think the series is going to be better than the book."

Premiering Tuesday, June 30 on CBS, Zoo is described as a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans sweeping the planet. The series stars James Wolk as Jackson Oz, a young renegade American zoologist who spends his days running safaris in the wilds of Africa with his best friend Abraham (Nonso Anozie), who has a deep understanding of wildlife.

Executive producer Jeff Pinkner revealed that the first season will not end where the book does and that there is a five-season plan for the show, with possible room for more.  "It's going to change a lot from the book, which is excellent," said Patterson.
