Terry Pratchett Completes Final Novel Before Death ...
Terry Pratchett has died aged 66, his publishers have confirmed. The fantasy author, who wrote The Discworld series, had been suffering from early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Pratchett sold
over 85m books and was knighted in 2009.
After he announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer's in 2007, Pratchett made a large donation to the Alzheimer's Research Trust and filmed a BBC programme about his experiences with the
illness. His final book, a new Discworld novel, was completed last year.
"The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds," said Transworld Publishers' Larry Finlay.
"In over 70 books, Terry enriched the planet like few before him. As all who read him know, Discworld was his vehicle to satirize this world: He did so brilliantly, with great skill, enormous humor and constant invention," Finlay added.
His legacy will endure for decades to come." His publishers stated that the author had died at home with his cat sleeping on his bed surrounded by his family..
